So, when does this nightmare end?

I don't know about you, but 2009 is not soon enough. This censure resolution that Congressional cowards have steered away from is not enough. I don't even know if impeachment is enough! This disgusting Texas roach and all the puppetmasters pulling the strings need to be shipped off to the Hague, and put on trial for war crimes, crimes against humanity and for the irreparable damage to the US and the International community. Is that enough?
What is a justifiable punishment... or in a world of perfect justice, what is a proper repayment for looting the treasury, killing our soldiers and thousands of people around the globe, lying repeatedly to the American people, puting our nation at risk, as if this is some kind of game? Some of us take comfort that "God" will punish these people accordingly. When? WHEN??!!! After they've completely destroyed the US, or just before...or never? What about those of us who want to see justice here on Earth?
Of course, all the blame can't fall on our incompetent, un-elected officials. What are we doing, as citizens of this country? Some of us wave the flag and utter phrases like, "God Bless America" or some other cliche, yet when our country is in dire trouble, we do what modern man does best: expect someone else to pick up the slack. Or, as the ignorant 30-some percent who still support this terrorist regime do, pretend it's all OK and resort to some talking head's simple-minded blabber as their comfort.
Supposedly, over half this country is appauled by our leadership and their decisions to take us to war... why are there not mobs of people protesting in the streets? Why do we just look the other way EVERY time our representatives and senators appropriate more money into this war, and allow Bush's garbage bills to pass? Why are we letting them play us with this immigration crap? That is nothing more than a distraction from the real issues, just like gay marriage was last time! The homophobes came out in droves, and this time, they want to bring out people against immigrants. If they spin it right, ANY reasonable person with respect for the laws of the land will back their rhetoric- are you going to be a puppet for them? Worse, are you just going to throw your arms up and walk away again? By doing that, you are turning your back on your country and your future. YOUR future! So what, though... right? It's too much to think about and you have your own things to worry about.
I honestly don't know that I want to bring children into this world of shit... at least not this country. I don't want to subject anyone to the cynicism of our nation's politics, or provide another pawn into this sick game. I'd rather not give them one more person to sucker off tax dollars from, to use for their own gain, or to kill people with. Forget what your history textbook taught you; our country's leadership has a history of oppression, domination, racism, slavery and greed. And no, it's not for a noble cause, unless you consider self-serving methods of overpowering the weak and the poor to be noble.
I am proud of the Americans who do things to make a difference, to create a just society for all. I am proud of the America that says, "We are independent of religious and political oppression. Keep your religion out of our government!" I am proud of hard working Americans, who earn a living honestly. I am proud of our soldiers who are A.W.O.L. I am proud of those who practice civil disobedience. I am proud of those who work to rid our country of the American values like racism, homophobia, religious intolerance and imperialistic BS. I am proud of people like Howard Zinn, who bring the truth of our history, not a phoney P.R. statement. I am proud of the America that is less noticed, and micharacterized by the right to steer the sheeple away.
I am ashamed of those who represent us in front of the world... people who we have to look to as leaders! I am tired of selfish, rich white men bringing us down! No, I am not a self-loathing white man, but how can anyone look at this pattern of dumb white people (mostly men) who have served as our leadership, and say they are proud?
In conclusion, I am very thankful for my right to free speech. I feel much better after getting all that off my chest.

What’s up Dan Crall!
How have you been? I hope that all is well with you.
I’ll tell you one thing; this nightmare can’t end soon enough for me dammit!
Hey I screwed up, but there's no way I coudl vote for Sneator "Chin boy" Kerry. Like I said, someone offers a viable third party candidate and I will be down with that. The candidates are always too much alike, you don't have any choices...
I agree P KID.
I am really hoping for that in 08.
Well crall, I don't agree with most of it, But as you said it is your right to believe and say what you want. I do agree in 08 we need to take a hard look at our future leaders, I don't care which party they are from, if they have some GOOD alternative solutions I'm all ears and will vote accordingly. I am not a Bush hater I would hate to have his job during these times. And no he didn't cause all of it. Some he inherited, some he created. The
immigration issue and the Homeland security issues will be the best opportunities for your party to get votes from my party.
I'd say it's an ideal world you are wishing for, and the beast called "politics" is too big of a machine to simply tear down and start over again with...unfortunately.
Small things, I think, can make a difference over time. I wouldn't necessarily blame the Right for everything as you do, as I'm pretty sure. Sen. Kerry would've fucked stuff up perfectly well on his own.
It would be refreshing to get some leadership that doesn't talk out of both ends, and is able to be much more honest and intelligent with the American people instead of treating them like children. We'll see what happens in 2008.
If Hillary runs, that'll be the worst thing in the world for Democrats, because we Independents hate her.
Naive! Perhaps you should live in Iraq, better yet Iran, North Korea and find out what kind of a wonderful country you have been blessed to live in. Everyone doesn't agree on issues, that's why it's a democrcay. We have the right to discuss and disagree -therein lies our strength. To disparge people who don't agree with your point of view - "a roach","ignorant some 30%" - only reinforces that you are nothing more then a self righteous demagogue. Where will you be when the terrorist puts a gun in your face? AWOL!
Bushwack--- my party? Which is?
Phoenix--- Of course Kerry woulda screwed things up. All adds to the cynicism and hopelessness of it all, in this 2-party system. "Congressional cowards," as stated earlier, is actually a reference mostly toward democrats, as they are the ones who should be standing with Feingold. While I obviously can't stand the right, I certainly don't blame them for everything. The post also said, "What are we doing, as citizens?"
Concerned--- Save the " go live somewhere else" line. I am glad we are free to discuss and disagree on issues too... that's not what this is about. It's an acknowledgement that the ruling party is sickening and is destroying our country. What's naive or inaccurate about that? And yes, Bush is a roach. Also, save your scary "terrorist in my face" scenario. Your bozo of a president has created more terrorists than he's been able to contain. Thanks to his middle east policies, Al Quieda has gained strength. Thanks to our occupation, 45% of Iraqis think it's OK to kill American troops. So, again.. save your "terrorist" crap for someone who is easily frightened by chinsy, pseudo-patriotic scare tactics.
But if Osama ever gets in my face... you know what I'll do? I'll attack Iraq.
George Bush should stand trial for treason in America and then be taken to the Hague for war crimes .
ConcernedforYOURfuture is a hopeless loser. How dare you call anyone naive when you support terrorism in the form of the US president? Moron...
I think it's pretty hard for politicians, with a lot of them sharing beds with lobbyists. You know? So you are so hopeless you don't want to bring kids into this world. Can I have your baby then? oh wait. I'm spayed. Shucks. Well, cheer up, mate. All is probably lost. How in the world would we change things? What kind of world would you want to live in, ideally speaking? Describe it, in detail, and how it might be achieved. How do we stop war? On all sides? For example. How would we make leaders and wannabe leaders work out differences some other way?
Tell the religious fanatic right wingers if they want a theocracy, they can move to Iran. And to LEAVE AMERICAN FREEDOM OF RELIGION OR NO RELIGION ALONE. Seperation of chruch and state is rather crucial so we don't end up at the mercy of various religious bomb building murderous clerics of various American faiths. So, right wingers, leave religion out of politics. This is the land of the free, like it or not. Freedom to worship as one pleases or not to. This is the hypocrisy of the right wing that bothers me greatly. Wave your flags high and demand a theocracy. Like I said, take your theocracy and head to Iran. You can fight out a little niche for yourselves in the desert. I know I'm off topic. I'm just venting. You know. Like a volcano. If it vents off its pressure often enough then there's no big bang explosion. It's healthy.
Strayer... that's what's good about the blog. I let off a lot of steam and feel alot better when it's done.
Asking me to describe in detail the worl I want to live in is asking for a lot of typing. I've put those ideas throughout the blog, but the short end of it is this....
A world without oil--- there are other ways to make machinery run, including biomass and other forms of renewable energy.
I am starting to hate what capitalism is turning out. I think the theory of it works, but what I am seeing today is hardly a fair system for all.
A world without Fundamentalist religious fanatics of any kind. A world that understands the importance of taking care of the earth. A world with closer-knit communities and less personality disorders.
I'm leaving a lot out, but that's kind of the short of it.
Stopping war will only happen when the Warmonger party is out of power. If they want to shoot each other up over there in the Middle east, when can we just say "Fuck Em!" ?? We have a lot to worry about here. We need to get out filthy hands out of their cookie jar, once and for all.
I know, it's just too easy, getting in a car and zooming around. I saw some report somewhere that was saying the best way to support the troops is to STOP DRIVING or get the best gas mileage car around. The less dependent we are on foreign oil the more a person is supporting our troops and I think this point should be made clear, to those folks out there gulping gas in their big rigs and gasaholic hobbies, like jet skiis, etc. They're killing American soldiers by their actions.
I hate jet skiis. I try to swim in rivers and lakes and they are like annoying mosquitos buzzing around. Rude, too. And they leave a sheen of gas behind them.
I got diagnosed with endometriosis three years or so ago, although I'd had it forever. I had to have a hysterectomy. I knew little about it, but I did research then. A lot of the research supports a dioxin link to endometriosis. YOu don't hear about that, though, in the mainstream. Dioxins are petroleum byproducts. Bleached paper even, because dioxins are used in the bleaching process. Made me mad. They contain a pseudoestrogen. I have to think, because a lot of breast cancers are estrogen fed, that dioxins may have a causative effect in breast cancer, also. And they're everywhere.
They're in a lot of pesticides and herbacides. Did I mention I am mad? We ignore all this so eagerly. Or don't know how to stop it all. I also saw recent research about how some neurological diseases, like Parkinsons', show in higher incidence among gardeners and farmers. The assumed connection is use of pesticides or herbicides, probably the former because of their neurotoxic agents.
It's just really amazing that we are willing to poison ourselves and our future.
I have problems with Capitolism in a religious world also. Capitolism depends upon the human "value" materialism as its engine. Yet religions teach to not be materialistic. If people really were religious, truly religious and not just saying they have religious values, they would not be coveting and buyging all this crap on store shelves. They would buy only the necessities of life and any extra income they had would go to help others less fortunate.
I too long for closer communities. I don't drive much, just when I'm out doing the cat trapping stuff. And I don't have much of anything that would be considered valuable. The valuable assets I do have are friends. I don't have many in Corvallis, but I have a lot of friends around this state and even beyond. I don't care about anything really but having some friends and love. Everything else is just add on.
Sorry, had to cut out, due to a cat call. I'm venting again. We have a wonderful country. Freedom is wonderful and we have so many resources here in America. We don't want to abuse them or lose them. I can't say much about other countries because I've not travelled. But I'd rather live in America than anywhere else. So I have an investment in this beautiful country. I live here. It's also a responsibility, I feel. I don't tend to see borders as easily as some people do.
I tend to see this Earth as an island that we all inhabit. Borders seperate and create disputes over the lines. We try to point out differences between them there people on that side of the line and us on on the other, I think.
And there are differences, different cultures, languages, all sorts of things, which makes the world very interesting, rather than a bland cloned borescape.
I think problems arise when groups decide they want what's on the other side of the line--what is somebody else's, then divise a means to get it. That means usually is war. I think problems arise too when groups or a country decides they want to make the world think like them, as in religious wars.
I don't know why we're in Iraq. Bush knew there were no WMD's in there. He used that as a ploy. But he also used the Kurds as a ploy, that Saddam gassed the Kurds. Well neither arguement is valid as reason to invade a country on such a scale. There are far worse dictators and regimes in this world than Saddam. You don't have to look far into Africa to find one.
So I still go with my original theory of it all--revenge and to impress his mother. I believe there was a Shakespear play exaderating such love. G. Bush's father never got Saddam. Saddam tried to kill his father. I still believe Bush is out to impress his mother, by going farther than his father and getting the man who threatened his father. I still believe that is at the heart of it.
There were plans made before 911, requested schemes designed, to figure an excuse to invade Iraq. Why? No reasons, except those involved in the first Gulf War, and its basis and aftermath.
Wrong to invade. What to do now? Leave them to a civil war bloodbath? Is there any way to stop it? If there is no way now to stop the civil war in Iraq, we do need to leave now. They will have to work it out themselves.
I have no love of Muslim men because of the way many of them fundamentally see women. And treat women. I have no love at all for most middle eastern Muslim countries, as a woman who enjoys the freedoms American women enjoy. Yes, there are problems here in the way women are treated, but nothing, NOTHING like in that area.
The Taliban in Afghanistan were an evil beyond evil, to women. I am very happy they were defeated after 911 and I hope they never gain power again in Afghanistan, although they will want to and try to, as long as any of them live. They had total control and got to commit atrocities against women. And those type of men cannot abide the absence of control.
Well anyhow. Got to go see a man about catching some stray cats for fixing.
Greetings, I was reading some blogs and came across your blog. I'm quite impressed , with how it has a good feel. This is one to watch.
